Wetlands T-shirt

Just another design project I did for my second year, which was also for a competition. Even though it didn't have such a grand effect as the Dinosaur stamps had. Originally it would have ended up being part of a Calendar but things went wrong for the organizers of the competition and they end up just choosing my design and printing it onto a T-shirt ...he go figures.

Whish however they would have given me one of them T-shirt T_T

Project Stats

It was for a wetlands awareness project, called 'We All live downstream" which was meant to make people realise that everyone is dependent on water, and our pollution of water not only affects our life but everything that is dependent on the water.

I chose to work with the idea of where water is also important for cultural purposes, and that some tribes consider it to be inhabited by the ancestral spirits.

Lake Fundudzi for example is inhabited by a rainbow snake, and the lake itself is sacred and no one is allowed to go near it without the village leaders blessing.
So this whole concept was just based on that the ecosystem, wild life and the people are dependent on wetlands and what they provide.
